Introduction: Cadherin 11 (CDH11) belongs to the cadherin superfamily (integral membrane proteins) which mediate calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion. CDH11 is defined based on lacking a HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence specific to type I cadherins. CDH11 protein's expression in osteoblastic cell lines, and its upregulation during differentiation, suggests a specific function in bone development and maintenance.
